The creation secrets of outstanding widely known paintings of  Henri MATISSE and Georgette AGUTTE are disclosed in this book, thanks to the discovery of new unpublished documents

ADDENDA (October 2007)

to the first edition of TRIANGLE (November 2006)

Page 6 - contrary to the note (*) at the footer, and thanks to unpublished documents we had access to, in December 2006, from the Claude MONET's archives, it clearly appears that Georgette AGUTTE and Claude MONET had been in correspondence and that the families AGUTTE-SEMBAT and HOSCHEDE-MONET did visit each other.

Page 11 - his daughter-in-law Andrée HAYART (instead of his daughter Andrée HAYART.)

Page 26 - the exact words to be read on the sundial are :“the place where you are born is life”

Page 29 - In Henri MATISSE's letter to Georgette AGUTTE, he describes to her four paintings, and not three as mentioned on page 29.

Thus, the sketch II corresponds to the painting “Jardin marocain” or “Les Pervenches”, presently exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New-York (MOMA).

Page 31 - The painting “Les Oranges” or “Nature Morte à la Corbeille d'Oranges” can be found in the storerooms of the PICASSO Museum in Paris and not in   the Louvre Museum .

Indeed, this painting with fragile pigments belongs to the personal   collection of Pablo PICASSO who kept this canvas hung on his walls until he died, and even displayed it, on several occasions, among his own paintings at exhibitions.

In 1942, Henri MATISSE had deposited the painting at the dealer's Martin FABIANI. Pablo PICASSO happened to pass by the gallery window, saw it, went in straight away, and in no time, had accepted the deal offered by the   art dealer to exchange MATISSE's painting for one of PICASSO's own paintings.According to Jacqueline PICASSO confiding in André MALRAUX several years later, apparently when H. MATISSE learnt who was the buyer of his painting, he cried.

It must be stressed that no photo could show the exceptional magical quality of this painting, very rarely on display, because of its fragility.

We are very grateful to the Head Curator of the Picasso Museum , and her team, who opened exceptionally for us the private storerooms of the Museum.
